الفَلَقِ
The Dawn
Seeking refuge in Allah from harm in creation.
Al-Falaq, “The Daybreak,” is a prayer for protection from the harms of the night, envy and evil. With An-Nas it forms al-Mu‘awwidhatayn, the two surahs of refuge.
Recited morning and evening and before sleep for protection, together with An-Nas and Al-Ikhlas.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلْفَلَقِ
Qul a'uzoo bi rabbil-falaq
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Min sharri ma khalaq
From the evil of that which He created
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
Wa min sharri ghasiqin iza waqab
And from the evil of darkness when it settles
وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِى ٱلْعُقَدِ
Wa min sharrin-naffaa-thaati fil 'uqad
And from the evil of the blowers in knots
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
Wa min shar ri haasidin iza hasad
And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
“Al-Falaq” translates to “The Dawn.” It is the 113th surah (chapter) of the Holy Quran.
Surah Al-Falaq has 5 verses (ayahs).
It is a Makkah (Meccan) surah — revealed before the Prophet’s ﷺ migration (Hijrah) to Madinah.
