Mankind
Seeking refuge in Allah from the whispers of evil.
An-Nas, “Mankind,” seeks Allah’s protection as Lord, King and God of humanity from the whispering of Shaytan in the hearts of people. It closes the Quran on a note of refuge and reliance on God.
Part of the two surahs of refuge (al-Mu‘awwidhatayn), recited for protection morning, evening and before sleep.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ
Qul a'uzu birabbin naas
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ
Malikin naas
The Sovereign of mankind.
إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ
Ilaahin naas
The God of mankind,
مِن شَرِّ ٱلْوَسْوَاسِ ٱلْخَنَّاسِ
Min sharril was waasil khannaas
From the evil of the retreating whisperer -
ٱلَّذِى يُوَسْوِسُ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ
Al lazee yuwas wisu fee sudoorin naas
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -
مِنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ
Minal jinnati wan naas
From among the jinn and mankind."
“An-Naas” translates to “Mankind.” It is the 114th surah (chapter) of the Holy Quran.

It is a Makkah (Meccan) surah — revealed before the Prophet’s ﷺ migration (Hijrah) to Madinah.
