About Surah Al-Maa'un

Al-Ma‘un, “Small Kindnesses,” describes the one who denies the religion as he who repels the orphan, neglects the needy, and prays without sincerity.

۞

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

  1. 1 Al-Maa'un 107:1

    بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ

    Ara-aital lazee yu kazzibu bid deen

    Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

  2. 2 Al-Maa'un 107:2

    فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلْيَتِيمَ

    Fa zaalikal lazi yadu'ul-yateem

    For that is the one who drives away the orphan

  3. 3 Al-Maa'un 107:3

    وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ

    Wa la ya huddu 'alaa ta'amil miskeen

    And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

  4. 4 Al-Maa'un 107:4

    فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ

    Fa wai lul-lil mu salleen

    So woe to those who pray

  5. 5 Al-Maa'un 107:5

    ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ

    Al lazeena hum 'an salaatihim sahoon

    [But] who are heedless of their prayer -

  6. 6 Al-Maa'un 107:6

    ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَآءُونَ

    Al lazeena hum yuraa-oon

    Those who make show [of their deeds]

  7. 7 Al-Maa'un 107:7

    وَيَمْنَعُونَ ٱلْمَاعُونَ

    Wa yamna'oonal ma'oon

    And withhold [simple] assistance.
