Competition
Heedlessness through rivalry for worldly gain.
At-Takathur, “Rivalry in Worldly Increase,” warns that competing for more of this world distracts people until death, after which they will surely be questioned about their blessings.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ
Al haaku mut takathur
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ
Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir
Until you visit the graveyards.
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Kalla sawfa ta'lamoon
No! You are going to know.
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Thumma kalla sawfa ta'lamoon
Then no! You are going to know.
كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
Kalla law ta'lamoona 'ilmal yaqeen
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ
Latara-wun nal jaheem
You will surely see the Hellfire.
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ
Thumma latara wunnaha 'ainal yaqeen
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin 'anin na'eem
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
“At-Takaathur” translates to “Competition.” It is the 102nd surah (chapter) of the Holy Quran.

It is a Makkah (Meccan) surah — revealed before the Prophet’s ﷺ migration (Hijrah) to Madinah.
