Estimate Sharia shares for spouse, children & parents
For education only — not a fatwa. This tool estimates shares for the most common family case (spouse, children, parents) using the majority Quranic rules. It excludes siblings, grandparents and other relatives. Always consult a qualified scholar before distributing a real estate.
No. This is an educational estimate only, based on the well-known, majority-view Quranic fixed shares (faraidh). It is not a religious ruling and must not be used to actually divide a real estate. Always consult a qualified Islamic scholar or faraidh specialist, who will consider your full family tree and local law.
Only the most common close relatives: a surviving spouse, sons, daughters, father and mother. It does not include siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, multiple wives splitting, or other agnatic relatives (asaba) — all of which can change the outcome. If any of these apply to your case, the estimate will be incomplete.
In Islamic law, funeral expenses and debts are settled first, then up to one-third of the remaining estate may be given as a bequest (wasiyyah) to non-heirs if the deceased left a will. Only what remains after that is divided as inheritance. Enter that final net amount as your "estate to distribute."
If the fixed shares of all eligible heirs add up to more than the whole estate, classical scholars apply ʿawl — proportionally reducing every fixed share so they total exactly 100%. This calculator applies that adjustment automatically when needed.
