Hajj & Umrah Packing List: The Complete Guide

Hajj and Umrah are the journeys of a lifetime, and a little preparation lets you focus on worship instead of logistics. Use this checklist as your starting point.

Ihram and clothing

Men need a proper ihram set — two unstitched white cloths — ideally with a spare. Women wear simple, modest clothing. Pack comfortable, easy-to-remove footwear for the heat.

Worship essentials

• A compact travel prayer mat for praying in crowded or outdoor spaces.
• A pocket du’a book like Fortress of the Muslim (Hisnul Muslim) for the supplications of each rite.
• A qibla compass or app to find the direction of prayer on the move.

Health and comfort

Unscented toiletries (fragrance is avoided in ihram), a refillable water bottle, a small first-aid kit, and a money belt for documents. A drawstring bag keeps your sandals safe at the Haram.

Don’t forget

Photocopies of your documents, a portable charger, and a notebook for du’a lists from family. Most importantly, pack sincerity and patience.
